We’ll find out together. Medication needs vary by child, condition, symptom severity, and many other factors. Many children improve with skills, routines, school supports, and family strategies. When medication is considered, we decide together after a careful evaluation. Our med management approach is conservative and evidence-based, always working with the preferences of the patient.
Our psychiatrists specialize in working with children and adolescents, so they are extremely used to working with a variety of focus levels and attention spans. We can handle it! Your provider will work with you and the child to structure the appointment in a way that works with your child’s attention and also accomplishes the session goals. Yes. Parents and caregivers are welcome. For younger children, we usually meet with you and your child together. For teens, we often include time with everyone and time one on one, so your child can speak freely with their provider. We will discuss these details at the start of the visit and adjust based on age, comfort, and clinical needs.
Absolutely. Our providers offer formal ADHD evaluations for children, teens, and adults. Feel free to discuss your interest in an evaluation when you are scheduling an appointment or during your first appointment with the psychiatrist.
