Austin Novarra, MD

Austin Novarra completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience. Prior to attending medical school at Michigan State University, Austin took time out to participate in a minority health and health disparities research funded by NIH. As part of this fellowship, he lived in Ghana for several months conducting sickle cell research, which led to several peer reviewed publications. During his time in medical school, he served as a community mentor for youth ages 12 to 17 at-risk or involved in the juvenile court system. He subsequently completed his psychiatry residency through the Mass General Hospital/McLean Adult Psychiatry Training Program and is currently completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Yale Child Study Center. His clinical interests include child development, community mental health, and culturally informed psychiatric care.
